Solar power is simply the conversion of light energy into electrical energy using devices attached with special materials like silicon.
Man has been late in harnessing the light energy from the radiant sun, a repository of unfathomable power. But nature has been using it for millions of years. Each of leaf of shrub, herb, or tree is a form of solar cell, producing energy for them to grow. This energy production is completed through a chemical process known as photosynthesis. This is the best example of free solar energy.
Then there are real solar panels that one can get almost free. One can get such free solar panels just for asking, for many institutions want to get rid of slightly degraded ones that can be used in households for free. Even though the panels are slightly degraded, these would work fine. Moreover, photovoltaic (PV) panels are not the only type of solar energy.
Solar heating can be set up with glass, cardboard, or wood and insulation. Free glass is available everywhere in the U.S. These can be used to make solar ovens, solar hot water heaters, and hot air heaters.
To build a solar oven costs only $9, which includes $5 for clamps and $4 for the black paint. This is a rugged way of enjoying free solar panel power. One can enjoy rebates and discounts being offered by companies selling solar products. Ordering items in bulk and allying with friends and partners would further reduce costs.
One has to tap all ideas to get the best use at cheapest price. The very idea of solar energy is to utilize the sun’s energy, which is available for free.
Solar Panels provides detailed information on Solar Panels, Home Solar Panels, Solar Energy Panels, Free Solar Panels and more. Solar Panels is affiliated with Electric Boilers.

The need for alternative sources of energy has become more and more pressing day by day. Cost and supply of conventional fuel have gone out of whack and the effect of their wastes and emission on the environment going from bad to worse. If ever there was a time for alternative solutions for power, now is it! Actually, clean and renewable energy sources have been around for a long time: hydro, wind and solar power.
Each of these sources has its strengths and setbacks. Between them, solar power is the most suited for the household. Once installed, solar power systems are practically maintenance free. The average lifespan of solar panels is more than thirty years and they come in all shapes and sizes, blending very well into all varieties of buildings both aesthetically and functionally. Of course, it’s emission free, silent and runs on sunlight for fuel and sunlight alone. Read the rest of this entry »

Thinking of going solar? More and more homeowners are doing it. We all know it’s good for the environment, but is it a good economic decision?
The difference, financially speaking, of installing a solar energy system for your home, is whether you pay now or later. To purchase a system and have it installed, you have to come up with the money now. You’ll save on your electric bill going forward, and eventually you’ll break even. After that, you just have free electricity, except for the occasional maintenance of your solar system.
The break-even time varies. You have to go through the process of estimating for your specific home. There are online tools that will help you determine how big a system you’ll need, how much it will cost and how much electricity it will generate. Be sure to factor in the incentives available.

Solar efficiency – we refer to the electric solar panels -is known to be inferior to the wind turbines efficiency. Solar panels actually are divided into two categories: Solar Heating or Solar Thermal Panels and Electric Solar Panels. Solar Heating Panels have far better efficiency compared to the Electric Solar Panels.
Lab researchers claimed they have improved the solar efficiency recently. While the improvement may not look convincing to us actually it still means a lot. Professor Martin Green and his colleague Anita Ho-Baillie, two scientists at the University of South Wales in Sydney, Australia are said to led a team of U.S. researchers to victory with a multi-cell combination that is able to convert 43 percent of sunlight into electricity. The previous record was 42.7 percent. Read the rest of this entry »

If you think you can’t afford having your own home solar panels because of the expensive solar cost then you have to read The New York Times article published on August 26, 2009 by Kate Galbraith. Here’s the headline: More Sun for Less: Solar Panels Drop in Price. Does it mean something to you?
The cost of solar panels is known to contribute around 50% to the total electric solar system cost. With that said you can make a great saving if the price of the electric solar panels is chopped down by 40% as described by the analysts at the investment bank Piper Jaffray: “For solar shoppers these days, the price is right. Panel prices have fallen about 40 percent since the middle of last year, driven down partly by an increase in the supply of a crucial ingredient for panels”. Read the rest of this entry »

Many people have been looking into installing solar panels in order to combat the increasing energy costs, however when most of these people see the prices of the professionally installed panels they soon realize it may not be a luxury they can afford. Actually there is an easier and more cost efficient way to collect and utilize the sun’s power and that is to learn how to make solar panels for your self. Do-it-yourself solar power project can be very challenging and interesting for some people because not only they can learn easily how to make their own home solar system but also they can have the system at a very reasonable price. Hi folks! I was really occupied by my other project so I couldn’t post here since my last blog on July 24. Now that one month has been already spent without much progress I decided to give this blog a total new look. I’ll be here again on 24 or 25 Aug for the next post, meanwhile I have similar ‘face lift’ project pending on my other blogs. Thank you for your patience and we will meet again next week. Wishing you the best!

One of the largest solar power generators in the world is the SEGS (Solar Energy Generating Systems) which are located in the Mojave Desert of California. Consisting of nine huge solar power plants their total installed capacity is 354 MW. Around 90% of the electricity output is generated by the sunlight and natural gas is used only when the sunlight is insufficient to meet the power demand. Read the rest of this entry »

Solar shingles are photovoltaic cells with a conventional look of asphalt shingles. The latest development of solar shingles technology results in thin film solar cells that match the size and flexibility of conventional shingles. They are getting more people’s attention because of their almost invisible appearance. If you’d like to give them a try please be sure that you are aware of these points below.
